Meet Mrs. Juline Marie Box

  • My teaching and tutoring services are available to homeschool students, public school students, private school students, and charter school students of all ages. I also help people of all ages who want to improve their language skills and/or need individualized support in completing applications, creating résumés, and preparing for interviews.

  • I have over seven years of full-time teaching experience and three years of substitute-teaching experience at all grade levels (K-12). During my years of full-time teaching, I have taught the following courses: Spanish I, II, III & IV; English Language Arts; Career Exploration; Introduction to Business; Business Management; Study Skills; World Cultures; and 7th Grade Math. Additionally, I have experience teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) to adults and middle/high school students. Over the years, I have also had success helping people do the following: develop job skills; complete applications; prepare for interviews; and write/revise cover letters, résumés, and scholarship essays. A number of these people have been hired for the jobs they applied for; accepted into their choice of university, college, and/or study abroad program; and/or received some of the scholarships that they applied for. I truly enjoy helping other people succeed in fulfilling their God-given purpose in life.

  • I have a Professional Teaching License in the state of Oregon (#133795), received a Bachelor of Arts in English (with a Minor in Spanish) from Willamette University, and obtained my Master of Arts in Teaching from Willamette University’s School of Education. During my time at Willamette University, I also worked as a Writing Center consultant, helping undergraduate and graduate students with all phases of the writing process. In order to continue improving as a teacher, I have also taken 24+ graduate-level courses from various universities, attended a year-long Bible program, and completed a 9-month internship serving the Jewish people and Holocaust survivors.

  • I have spent time in several different countries pursuing my education and/or serving in various capacities. My time in Chile, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Israel, and the Philippines has increased my love for all people, regardless of their ethnicity or country of origin. I enjoy using the education and experiences with which I have been entrusted to serve young people and their families.

  • We all have a view of the world. In other words, we all have a specific way of understanding reality and determining meaning. Our worldview affects how we think and act in nearly all areas of life. As a teacher whose services you are considering to help you and/or your child, I want to be transparent about the fact that I am coming from a biblical worldview. What does this mean?

I believe that the Christian Bible is a credible representation of the Truth, a logical way of understanding the big questions of life, and a practical guide for day-to-day living.* When accurately interpreted, I have found the Bible to be the most consistent, reliable, logical, challenging, soul-searching, and life-giving compilation of documents that I have ever read. While I admittedly do not fully understand or live up to all that is presented in the Bible, I am striving to continue growing in my understanding and application of the Bible as a means to growing in my relationship with Jesus Christ, bringing honor and glory to Him, and fulfilling the unique purpose for which He created me by serving others.

My motivation to better address the individual needs of students and families comes from my desire to love God and love people. Being a teacher through Out-Of-The-Box Teaching & Tutoring allows me the freedom to be open and transparent with students and families about the Christian values that guide my decisions and motivate my actions. Coming from a biblical worldview, I understand that I am not only accountable to the students and families that I serve, but I–like all people–will stand before Jesus Christ one day and give an account for how I chose to live while on earth.

Although teaching and tutoring you or your child may or may not directly involve me sharing my Christian beliefs or biblical worldview, I feel it is important for families to understand where I am coming from, so they can determine whether or not my teaching and tutoring services are a good fit for them. I completely understand, and I will not be offended, if you choose to seek teaching and tutoring services elsewhere. Regardless of whether or not you utilize my services, I pray God’s very best for you and your family.
